I don’t know about you, but when the temperature finally drops into the 30s I tend to give in to the idea that warmth > fashion. I’m talking big puffy coats, clunky boots, messy hat hair… You get the idea. This year I decided to challenge my old way of thinking and really invest in some quality pieces that can get me through the cold Ohio winter looking like I didn’t just roll out of bed still wrapped in my comforter. It also helps that puffer jackets are massively trendy this year, but I’d like to give myself at least a little bit of the credit.
All of my outfits have shoppable links and most are featured in some of my other blog posts so check those out as well!
Oversized Sweater + Baggy Jeans + Boots
I SWEAR by each of these clothing items. Let’s start from the bottom up, these doc martens that I got on sale from Nordstrom Rack are life changing. They’re neutral and versatile but never go out of style! They also keep you SO warm, highly recommend these for the winter season. My jeans are *spoiler* not very warm. If you couldn’t tell by the gaping holes in the knee. But they are my go-to pair and you can see how I use them to style tons of looks in this post. Now onto the main event: this sweater! I absolutely can’t get enough of this sweater and it comes in so many amazing colors. I also have it in green!
Sweater Dress + Statement Boots
Obviously this look is not for snow days… But that being said, throwing on some tights and a coat would make this dressed up look perfect for a Winter party! I love pairing an oversized sweater dress with heeled boots – it elevates the look so much in my opinion. My sweater dress is from Revolve and these boots are Express. Linked above!
Bodysuit + Ripped Jeans + Puffer Jacket
My go to ripped jeans, a bodysuit, and a puffer jacket will always give you an insta-worthy outfit no matter what! I am always some combination of this outfit whether it’s wearing this out to dinner or exploring while traveling. Super comfy + you can dress it for any kind of weather you have.
Animal Print Sweater + Black Jeans + Boots
You can’t go wrong with a classic all black Winter look… But this time I added a pop of animal print! Zebra stripes are such a fun print that doesn’t push the envelope too much so that you can keep a look low key. Not pictured here, but I wore a black fuzzy coat over this to keep extra warm and keep the neutral vibes going.
Statement Pants + Neutrals
These pants are absolutely AMAZING – I want to wear them everywhere! They feel like leggings, but look like they’re made for work. I could easily dress them up, but here I just paired with boots, a sweater, and a puffer for a casual coffee date with a friend. Scroll to the bottom photo to see how I dressed them up!
Long Puffer + Animal Print
Back at it again with the white sweater and doc martens… This time switching it out for some snakeskin pants and a big puffy coat! I wore this to get coffee with a friend and it’s a super warm yet fun look for the more dreary days. My coat is from LL Bean and I highly recommend it if you live somewhere that requires heavy layering during the winter. I have had this for almost four years and it has never let me down!
Basic Turtleneck + Ripped Jeans + Belt
You can’t go wrong with a little Steve Jobs fashion inspo right? This was basically my uniform when I studied abroad because I could wear it day to night and it was neutral enough to wear with any type of coat/shoes/bag I wanted. Investing in a nice black turtleneck is key – this one is from Zara which is a great place to look!
Animal Print Boots + Black Jeans + Cropped Sweater
Finally a pair of jeans without a hole in them! I love this look when I need a nicer outfit but don’t wanna go the extra mile. Jeans, boots, and a nice sweater can do the trick, and try sticking to neutrals if you want to elevate your look.
Fur Coat + Oversized Sweater + Heeled Boots
As you can see I’ve worn variations of this outfit a LOT this winter – but I think that is so important because not everyone wants to have a closet that is exploding and it’s far more sustainable to invest in pieces you can rewear. I dressed up this sweater + pants combo with a nice pair of heeled boots and a fur coat and wa-la! It works for a nicer event. This is great for those times when it’s just WAY too cold to wear a skirt or dress but ya know, you need to look presentable.
Hope you enjoyed + got some idea for winter outfits!
